"whoever has the world's goods, and beholds his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and in truth."

1 John 3:17-18

About Us

Partners Staff and Coworkers - 2006.

Our Mission

To demonstrate God's love to victims of conflict and oppression.

History

Partners was started by Steve and Oddny Gumaer after a back packing trip into Sho Klo refugee camp in 1994. According to Steve "you can't just pray for 1.5 million refugees, tell them that Jesus loves them, and then leave them hungry, without clothes, and sick; you have to do something for them to demonstrate the heart and truth behind the prayer."

Partners Relief & Development is registered as a non-profit charity in the United States, Canada, Norway, and Australia. Currently Partners helps thousands of refugees and displaced people in Thailand, Burma, and Indonesia.

As an organization with a growing body of consultants, board members, and staff, Partners takes its inspiration from the words of John the disciple who said-- "let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and in truth." (1 John 3:18)

Who we help

Refugees, internally displaced people, and victims of natural disaster are all on the partners radar. Special emphasis is given to women and children, who are most vulnerable in times of conflict and crisis. You can take a more detailed look at those we reach out to and the cause of their suffering here.

How we help

Partners programs are: orphaned and displaced children's program, emergency relief, development program, and capacity building. To get a better understanding of how we work to assist people in crisis and what the programs entail, please visit our detailed programs page.
