Relief teams hike from areas of relative safety into areas of conflict in a deliberate attempt to rescue and aid villagers whose homes have been burned down. Most often the people they assist are destitute and their loved ones have been killed or abused by Burma Army soldiers. A Relief Team, trained by the Free Burma Rangers, is usually made up of 5-7 people who have one or more of the following responsibilities: a medic, videographer (to document human rights abuses), pastor/counselor, team leader, security agent, land navigator, and a person responsible for battery and solar power for the communications equipment. Each Relief Team's mission is to provide material, spiritual, and general aid to people who are the target of the Burma Army's strategy to cut off village-level support of the ethnic homeland defense forces and dominate and exploit resource-rich regions outside of their immediate control.
There are more than 1.5 million people in Burma who are displaced and in hiding, living to avoid renewed contact with the soldiers who have forced them into hiding. Partners currently provide medical kits, temporary shelter, food, and other essential survival needs for 30 teams to distribute and use. As part of our equipping of relief teams, Partners also trains one member from each team to care for traumatized children. For more information about this please visit the Good Life Club.
22 Jan., 05 IDPs in hiding place, Toungoo District, Karen State, Burma In conjunction with the Free Burma Rangers, Partners helped deliver 60 tons of rice, medicine, blankets, and most of all, hope to these suffering souls. As a follow up to this event Partners went into the area they are now hiding in to provide medical care, provisions, and show them the Jesus Film in order express again the love of God that is behind all of our efforts. |
Free Burma Rangers
The Free Burma Rangers (FBR) are our closest partners in our efforts to demonstrate God's love to the victims of the war in Burma. Each year FBR trains between 10 and 20 relief teams who commit to a 6 to 24 month relief mission in conflict areas of Burma. Partners helps train the teams, provides essential medical supplies, and commits a large portion of our budget to relief necessities that the teams deliver to Internally Displaced People. FBR also trains our staff for ministry in crisis situations. For more on FBR please visit: www.freeburmarangers.org.
